Findings use case Smart Cleaning
Today, the Data Sharing Coalition presents a report on the most important findings of the Smart Cleaning use case. In this case, sensor data from soap dispensers and people counters is shared with cleaning companies to develop smart cleaning services to improve hygiene and efficiency. This report consists of insights on the context and value of this use case and the use case design. It concludes that this use case provides a foundation for other use cases around sharing sensor data in buildings, e.g. sharing energy data, air quality data or security data in buildings.
A data streaming infrastructure and clarity on data control are key
Through multiple workshops, FacilityApps, AMdEX and the Data Sharing Coalition created a generic use case design (including a data sharing interaction model and an overview of business, legal, operational, functional and technical requirements for sharing data) that is scalable to and lays a foundation for other use cases.
The data sharing context of this use case is characterised by continuous data streaming and differing views on who is entitled to control the data. Therefore, it is essential that the data sharing infrastructure within this use case ensures a continuous flow of data and that all relevant stakeholders should come to a common understanding on who is entitled to be in control over what data.
Expanding the use case scope may enable other use cases
To create more value with this use case and enable other use cases in the future to optimise operations in buildings, the current use case scope can be expanded through involving more actors, more data types and new applications of current data sources. In the future, this use case can be scaled to facilitate data sharing between a larger group of Sensor Providers, Software Suppliers and Cleaning Companies. Also, this use case could include other sensors as data sources, such as energy sensors, air quality sensors, machine maintenance sensors and security sensors. Lastly, Actors can create new value by applying the data in this use case for other purposes than smart cleaning, such as security or health measures.
In the coming months, FacilityApps and AMdEX and will initiate the creation of agreements based on the requirements that are mapped in the use case design. When actual agreements are created, this use case can be implemented and operationalised.
More details on the findings can be found in the report, which can be downloaded here.
