Data Sharing Coalition starts its first two use cases

This content was created by the Data Sharing Coalition, one of the founding partners of the CoE-DSC.

The Data Sharing Coalition has selected the first two use cases that will be realised to show how cross-sectoral data sharing can create value:

  1. Green mortgages for investment in energy-saving measures
  2. Improving risk management for shipment insurance

Use case 1: Green mortgages for investment in energy-saving measures

Mortgage application network HDN and energy industry association Netbeheer Nederland have joined forces to explore how energy data of homeowners can be used to finance energy reducing measures. By including qualified energy data in mortgage applications, it becomes easier for mortgage providers to provide “green” mortgages, which homeowners can use to invest in energy-saving measures in their home. This use case can support mortgage providers in developing a new mortgage product that could have a positive impact on the energy transition.

Use case 2: Improving risk management for shipment insurance

The data sharing scheme for logistics iSHARE and the insurance industry association Verbond van Verzekeraars also see opportunities to create value by sharing data between their sectors. Currently, the risks associated with shipments are often difficult to assess for insurers, since they lack detailed information about the shipment. It is often unclear which parties are involved in the shipment, where the goods are at what moment in time, and what goods are actually in the shipment. By sharing data on the shipment between actors in the supply chain and insurers, using the iSHARE Scheme and data from the e-CMR (digital waybill), an insurer can better assess the actual risks, and also create a more efficient claim handling process. This enables more attractive insurance products for logistics service providers.

The Data Sharing Coalition

The Data Sharing Coalition is a collaborative initiative that aims to stimulate data sharing across sectors and domains. Within the coalition, various cross-sectoral data sharing use cases will be selected and realised. This allows the coalition to learn what is required to achieve better interoperability between different data sharing initiatives and to show the business value of cross-sectoral data sharing to the market.

The Data Sharing Coalition is an open and growing initiative. Interested parties are welcome to register for participation at info@coe-dsc.nl

White paper: Guidance for successful data space deployment

White paper: Guidance for successful data space deployment

Parties interested in deploying a data space need to use the right technologies and need to make sure they get the business and governance of the data space right. This is easier said than done, because there is relatively little guidance on how to deploy a data space successfully. What guidance can be given?

The benefits of combining data spaces and Privacy Enhancing Technologies

The benefits of combining data spaces and Privacy Enhancing Technologies

Data spaces and Privacy Enhancing Technologies have a common goal: making insights from data accessible in a confidential manner. But the development of both is driven by two different communities. This must change. By applying PETs within data spaces, confidentially exchanging insights from (privacy sensitive) data becomes more scalable.
